(ATHENS, Ga.) -- A double whammy for the Georgia Bulldogs. After losing a tight game to No. 5 Clemson Saturday, Georgia learned it lost its top receiver Malcolm Mitchell for the season on Sunday. Mitchell tore his ACL in his right knee during the first quarter of the team's loss to Clemson when Georgia teammate Todd Gurley rushed for a 75-yard touchdown.
The 6-foot-1 Mitchell led Georgia in receptions last season catching 40 balls for 572 yards and four touchdowns.
Mitchell, a junior, will need surgery to repair his knee and according to Richt is expected to be eligible for a medical redshirt because the injury occurred so early in the season.
