"He came in and played with great composure," left tackle Joe Thomas said. "Obviously, this was his first live snaps with the No. 1s, and he did a great job, just seamlessly coming in and throwing the ball on time where it needed to go, saying the play in the huddle confidently, directing the offense. Those are the types of things that were impressive."

Last Sunday, Hoyer completed 30 of 54 passes for 321 yards in the team's first win of the season.

This start will be especially important to Hoyer. He grew up Lakewood, Ohio, and rooted for the Browns when he was younger.

Brandon Weeden is still not fully healthy from a sprained right thumb, and is not ready to play just yet. He is considered week-to-week.

Despite the recent trade of running back Trent Richardson and Weeden's injury, the Browns upset the Vikings in Minnesota this past Sunday.
