Bruce Arians Prepares to Host Colts
(TEMPLE, Ariz.) -- Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians will be on the opposite side of the field when his team takes on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Arians spent last season as the interim head coach at Indianapolis after head coach Chuck Pagano coach was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia in September of 2012 and took a leave of absence to undergo three months of treatment.
Under Arians watch, the Colts went 9-3 and clinched a playoff berth before Pagano returned Dec. 24.
"I was hoping it would never be on the schedule," Arians said of hosting the Colts on Sunday. "Too many emotional ties to what happened last year to have to play them."
Arians was the offensive coordinator and was a huge impact on Colts quarterback Andrew Luck during his first season.
"He's got an incredibly young soul. I think people of all ages get along with him," Luck said. "He's obviously outgoing, and his speech patterns or his dialect is very interesting. I couldn't figure out if it was deep South, New Jersey; I couldn't figure out where it came from, but he makes it work. He manages to get his points across in a great way. He knows when to yell at you and maybe when to give you a hug."
