Dodgers Slug Cardinals 6-4 to Force Game 6

Facing elimination Wednesday, the team hit four home runs, including two by Adrian Gonzalez as they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 to force a Game 6 in the NL championship series. The Dodgers will send Clayton Kershaw to the mound on Friday night in St. Louis. He will be opposed by Cardinals rookie Michael Wacha.


Vikings QB Josh Freeman to Start Against Giants

"Our anticipation is he will play well," head coach Leslie Frazier said. Freeman signed with the Vikings last week after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.


J.R. Smith Wants to Start

Smith doesn't mind coming off the bench, but would rather start. "I've always wanted to start. Everybody knows that," Smith said. "I won the Sixth Man [Award] last year, so I felt as though there's nothing left to prove at the sixth-man spot."


Patriots LB Jerod Mayo Out for Season

Mayo, who leads the team in tackles underwent surgery for a torn pectoral muscle Tuesday, a league source told "He does a lot for us, on the field, off the field. We're just going to have to move on," Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said on Wednesday.
