Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have placed a "friendly wager" on this Saturday’s Seahawks-Saints game with Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La. The loser will present the winner (or winners) with some home-state beer and oysters.
Landrieu has pledged to give up charbroiled oysters and Abita Amber, a Munich-style lager, if the Saints lose. Murray and Cantwell offered Pike Pale Ale and oysters from Taylor Shellfish Farms if the Seahawks choke.
The Port of New Orleans, in conjunction with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, is betting fresh Louisiana seafood that the Saints will be victorious. The port's president and CEO, Gary LaGrange, challenged Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani putting seafood on the line including boiled crawfish, wild alligator and New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp, complements of two-time Super Bowl champion and Louisiana native Jarvis Green's New Orleans ShrimpHouse.
Yoshitani is betting a Washington seafood sampler, including crab, salmon and halibut on the game.
