Mike Zunino hit his first career homer on a tiebreaking solo shot in the 7th inning and the Mariners held on for a 3-2 win over the Oakland A's on Friday night. Two days after his big league debut, Zunino connected on a 1-1 pitch from Tommy Milone (6-6) and hit a towering shot to center field to help snap Oakland's 11-game winning streak.
Raul Ibanez added two hits and an RBI for the Mariners, while Joe Saunders (5-6) allowed five hits over seven innings for his first road victory of the season. Chris Young homered and had three hits but the A's, coming off an 18-inning win against the New York Yankees, couldn't get much else going.
Mariners Sign C Blanco, Drop Shoppach From Roster

The 41-year-old Blanco, released by the Toronto Blue Jays on June 10, is with his 11th major league team. A career .226 hitter, Blanco batted just .184 in 15 games with the Blue Jays. The 33-year-old Shoppach was batting only .196 in 35 games with the Mariners.
