SEATTLE (AP) - Clint Dempsey says he was disappointed by the two-game suspension issued by Major League Soccer just before a major international appearance for the U.S. national team against Mexico. Dempsey spoke for the first time about his suspension after the Seattle Sounders practice yesterday. Dempsey was suspended for violent conduct toward Toronto FC defender Mark Bloom in a March 15 match.
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - The Seattle Mariners have signed right-handed starter Chris Young to a major league deal for the 2014 season in the hopes of solidifying the back end of the rotation. Seattle signed Young yesterday and designated for assignment left-handed reliever Bobby LaFromboise to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Young had been in spring training with Washington, making two starts and giving up four earned runs in 10 1-3 innings pitched.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The Seattle Seahawks have signed free agent cornerback Phillip Adams adding depth to a secondary that has lost three players off last season's Super Bowl championship team.
