Seattle Times Will No Longer Use 'Redskins'

The Seattle Times says it will no longer use the word "Redskins" in stories about the Washington, D.C., NFL team. The sports editor said Thursday the name is "absurd, offensive and outdated." Other newspapers have also stopped using the Indian reference that many find unacceptable. The Times previously had a policy to minimize the use of "Redskins" by keeping it out of headlines and photo captions and limiting it to once per story. June 20, 2014
