Videos Give Glimpse of Horror in Syrian Chemical Weapons Attack
(WASHINGTON) -- Videos containing gruesome images of a chemical weapons attack in Syria have been released to an American public that is skeptical of intervention. ABC's Senior Washington Correspondent Jeff Zeleny points out how the Obama administration is hoping the videos can convince members of Congress that the actions of the Syrian government warrant military intervention.
The videos were reportedly posted on YouTube by pro-opposition users and depict scenes including spasming children and men and women on the ground vomiting and foaming at the mouth, says the Agence France-Presse.
Interestingly, the selected videos do more to verify the use of chemical weapons than to prove that the attack was orchestrated by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., had previously said that if the public had seen what she had seen, they would be less likely to doubt the need for military intervention in Syria.
