Irvin Returns To Seahawks After Suspension
After the final preseason game, Bruce Irvin didn't want to remove his jersey and shoulder pads, knowing it would be sometime in October before he would be back in a Seahawks uniform. No wonder Irvin wore a huge smile Wednesday when he finally got back on the practice field after serving a four-game suspension for using a banned substance.
Irvin, the Seahawks' first-round pick in 2012, spent most of his four-week suspension in West Virginia where he went to college. Irvin said he tried to stay in football shape and to pass along the message to college players not to take their opportunities for granted. Irvin is making a position switch from defensive end to outside linebacker as the Seahawks try to use his athleticism in the pass rush and in coverage.
Seattle Claims QB B.J. Daniels Off Waivers
The Seattle Seahawks have added a third quarterback to their roster by claiming B.J. Daniels off waivers from San Francisco. Seattle made the roster move Wednesday. The Seahawks released rookie linebacker John Lotulelei to clear a spot on the 53-man roster for Daniels. The 49ers waived Daniels on Tuesday after they decided to sign John Skelton. San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh said he was hoping to re-sign Daniels to the practice squad and the 49ers had plans for developing Daniels, but the Seahawks swooped in and signed him first. Daniels did not appear in a regular season game. He was a seventh-round pick in the April draft by the 49ers.
