Umipig Scores 33, Lifts Seattle Past UC Davis 76-67

Isiah Umipig hit seven 3-pointers and finished with a season-high 33 points to help Seattle beat UC Davis 76-67 on Tuesday night. Umipig was 11 of 21 from the field, including 7 of 15 from beyond the arc, and also dished out six assists. Jarell Flora scored 15 points and made 4 of 6 from long range, and William Powell added 13 points for Seattle (7-6). UC Davis led 18-16 with 11:50 left in the first half before Umipig drained four treys and made a free throw, sparking an 18-4 run to help Seattle build a 39-30 halftime lead. Flora's 3-pointer and a pair of Umipig free throws stretched the Redhawks' lead to 63-45 with 10:19 remaining. Avery Johnson's 3-pointer pulled UC Davis within 73-65 with 1:17 to go. Oregon State Defeats UC Santa Barbara 76-64

Gary Payton II had 14 points, nine rebounds and five steals to lead Oregon State past UC Santa Barbara 76-64 Tuesday night. The Beavers (9-3) had six players score in double figures, including Jarmal Reid with 16 points and Olaf Schaftenaar with 14. Alan Williams had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Michael Bryson added 16 for the Gauchos (5-7). The Beavers were outrebounded by UC Santa Barbara 30-26, but forced the visitors into 18 turnovers. UC Santa Barbara led by 16 early after a Gabe Vincent 3-pointer made the score 26-10 at the 8:55 mark. Oregon State responded with a 14-0 run, capped by a Payton steal and Langston Morris-Walker lay-in-and-one with 4:31 left in the first half. Oregon Outlasts UC Irvine 69-67 In Overtime

Dwayne Benjamin scored 18 points and Joseph Young hit an insurance 3-pointer late in overtime to lead Oregon to a 69-67 victory over UC Irvine on Monday night. Dillon Brooks added 15 points and Elgin Cook had 14 for the Ducks (10-3), who closed out their nonconference schedule with their second straight overtime win. Alex Young led the Anteaters (6-6) with 12 points, and Travis Souza and Jaron Martin added 11 each. After Brooks made 1 of 2 free throws with 5.4 seconds left for the final point, Young had a shot at the win, but his pull-up 3 was long at the buzzer. Benjamin helped force overtime when his corner 3-pointer with 7.6 seconds left in regulation tied the score at 57. It was Oregon's fifth 3 of the game and its fourth of the second half. BYU Evens WCC Mark, Beats Portland 97-88

Tyler Haws, Kyle Collinsworth and Anson Winder combined to score 67 points as BYU knocked off Portland 97-88 in a West Coast Conference game Monday night. The Cougars (11-4) rebounded from a loss to Gonzaga in the WCC opener Saturday, evening their conference record at 1-1. Haws finished with 24 points on 8 of 20 shooting from the field and 7 of 8 from the line. Winder had 22 points, connecting on 10 of 14 from the field, and Collinsworth scored 21, shooting 9 of 13 from the free throw line, and grabbed eight boards. BYU shot 50.8 percent from the field on 33-of-65 shooting and was 24 of 31 from the line. Portland (10-4, 1-1) opened WCC play with a 61-58 win at San Diego on Alec Wintering's 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left.
