Seahawks DT Hill Out With Injury

seahawks blueThe Seattle Seahawks will be without defensive tackle Jordan Hill for this Saturday's playoff game against Carolina, after he suffered a severe calf injury while working out the previous weekend. Seattle coach Pete Carroll made the announcement of Hill's injury Tuesday. Hill had suffered a knee sprain in the season finale against St. Louis, but was in the process of coming back when he injured his calf.

Sounders Hire New General Manager

Sounders logoGarth Lagerwey has been hired as the Sounders new general manager, with current GM Adrian Hanauer moving to focus on the business operations of the franchise. Seattle announced the long-expected move Tuesday. Lagerwey had spent the last seven-plus seasons as the general manager of Real Salt Lake, helping turn that franchise into an MLS Cup winner. Lagerwey will oversee all soccer operations for the Sounders.

Johnson 1 Of 4 Elected To HOF

r johnson150Four new inductees were announced Tuesday for the 2015 National Baseball Hall of Fame. Randy Johnson (former Mariner 1989 – 1998), received the highest number of votes at 534 (97.3%). Pedro Martinez, 500 votes (91.1%); John Smoltz, 455 votes (82.9%) and Craig Biggio, 454 votes (82.7%).They will be officially inducted at the ceremony on July 26 as part of the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend on July 24-27.

Washington Linebacker Shaq Thompson Declares For NFL Draft

ShaqThompsonWashington linebacker Shaq Thompson is forgoing his senior season and will declare for the NFL draft. The school announced Thompson's decision Monday. Thompson's final game was the Huskies' loss to Oklahoma State in the Cactus Bowl on Friday. Thompson was one of three Huskies on the AP's All-America first team, joining linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha and defensive tackle Danny Shelton. Thompson was honored as an all-purpose player after spending part of the season as Washington's starting running back.

Washington Women Beat Arizona 79-69

Jazmine Davis scored 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting with four 3-pointers and Washington beat Arizona 79-69 on Monday. Talia Walton had 17 points and 12 rebounds while Kelsey Plum added 14 points. Aminah Williams had 12 boards with 10 points. Candice Warthen paced Arizona with 18 points. Dejza James had 13 and Charise Holloway added 11 points and seven rebounds. Washington closed the first half on a 9-2 run to lead 38-25 at the break. The Huskies came out after intermission on fire, opening with a 10-2 run to push the lead over 20. TUCSON, Ariz.
