Houston 2-0 Win Over Seattle

marinersSRookie Brett Oberholtzer pitched a four-hitter and Jason Castro hit an RBI double in the eighth inning to lift the Houston Astros to a 2-0 win over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. The 24-year-old Oberholtzer struck out five and walked one. He did not allow an extra-base hit in his sixth career start and ninth appearance to lower his ERA to 2.79. He had never pitched more than seven innings entering Sunday's game.

Kendrys Morales, Nick Franklin and Dustin Ackley each drove in a run for the Mariners, who had lost six in a row before the series against the major league-worst Astros.

Mariners Top Astros 7-1

mariners400Top prospect Taijuan Walker did not allow an earned run over five innings in his major league debut and Dustin Ackley had a career-high four hits with four RBIs to help the Seattle Mariners beat the Houston Astros 7-1 on Friday night. The 21-year-old right-hander, rated the fifth-best prospect in baseball, yielded two hits and one run with two strikeouts and a walk. If the 6-foot-4 Walker (1-0) had any rookie nerves, it certainly didn't show as he retired the first eight batters he faced.
