Red Sox 5-4 Win Over Mariners

mariners400Stephen Drew singled in the winning run in the 15th inning to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners and back into first place in the AL East on Wednesday night. Dustin Pedroia drew a leadoff walk and took second on a groundout by David Ortiz. Mike Napoli was walked intentionally and Jarrod Saltalamacchia struck out. Jonny Gomes then walked, loading the bases, and Drew hit a liner just inside the right-field line as Pedroia scored the decisive run.

Seahawks Move On

seahawksBecause Percy Harvin never played a game for the Seattle Seahawks, the news he'll need surgery on his hip and could miss a significant chunk of the 2013 season doesn't have the same sting that it might have. The Seahawks practiced Wednesday for the first time since learning Harvin will need surgery to repair his hip injury. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday in New York, but no timetable on a recovery will be known until after the procedure is complete.

Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia homered in the second, giving Workman a cushy 5-1 lead that the young right-hander never squandered

Mariners beat Twins 6-4

franklinNick Franklin homered twice, including a three-run shot, and the Seattle Mariners held off the Minnesota Twins for a 6-4 victory Sunday. Franklin and Michael Saunders both went deep during a pivotal four-run fourth inning. With the Mariners down 2-1, Saunders tied it with his seventh homer to open the inning, deep into the right-field second deck.

Sounders 2-1 win over Chivas

Sounders logoLamar Neagle scored in the 57th minute to cap a rally that lifted the Seattle Sounders to a 2-1 victory over Chivas USA on Sunday night. Brad Evans also scored for the Sounders (8-7-4), who are unbeaten in their last eight games at home (4-0-4) to tie a franchise record. Seattle's only home loss was 1-0 to Montreal in the season opener. Erick Torres tallied late in the 16th minute for Chivas (4-12-5).
