Angels Win 6-4

Jered Weaver gave up three runs over six innings for his fifth win in six starts and C.J. Cron homered to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night. Weaver (6-3) gave up seven hits and a walk while striking out five. Weaver has lasted at least six innings in nine of his 11 starts this season, and this was the first time in eight outings he allowed more than two runs. Cron led off the seventh inning with his third homer since making his major league debut on May 3. Ernesto Frieri pitched the ninth for his seventh save, but the Mariners made it interesting. Robinson Cano hit a two-out run scoring single, and Justin Smoak walked before Kyle Seager ended the game with a deep fly to left-center field. May 28, 2014

Rodgers Helps New York Rally Past Seattle

Sugar Rodgers scored a career-high 15 points, including seven in the final 3 minutes, to lead the New York Liberty to a 70-64 victory over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night.The Liberty trailed 62-54 with 2:55 left and had scored just one basket over the previous 13 minutes when Rodgers came to life. Her 3-pointer made it a five-point game. After Sue Bird answered with a jumper, New York scored the final 11 points of the game, including five by Rodgers. Her 3-pointer with 1:06 left tied it at 64.Cappie Pondexter then hit a jumper with 24.9 seconds left to give New York a lead. After Bird missed a pullup on the other end, Plenette Pierson hit two free throws to secure the win for New York (2-2).Bird led Seattle (1-4) with 21 points, including 17 in the first half. Beavers Top National Seed, Host Corvallis Regional

The Oregon State Beavers are the No. 1 national seed in baseball's postseason for the first time in school history. The Beavers will host UNLV, UC Irvine and North Dakota State in the Corvallis Regional this weekend at Goss Stadium to kick off the NCAA tournament. Oregon State's highest national seeding previously was No. 3 last season. The Beavers are headed to the postseason for the sixth consecutive season and 15th time overall. It is the fifth time the team will host a regional. The NCAA tournament opens Friday with 16 four-team, double-elimination regionals. Best-of-three super regionals will be held next week, with those winners moving to the College World Series in Omaha. May 27, 2014
