Seager led Major League third basemen with a .981 fielding percentage. Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager has been selected as the winner of the 2014 Rawlings® American League Gold Glove, announced Tuesday by the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company and Major League Baseball. Seager was one of three finalists for the American League Gold Glove at third base, with Josh Donaldson and Adrian Beltre.
Chris Young Named MLB American League Comeback Player Of The Year
Seattle Mariners pitcher Chris Young was named MLB’s American League Comeback Player of the Year. The award is officially sanctioned by Major League Baseball and presented annually to one player in each League who has reemerged on the field during the season. The 30 club beat reporters from MLB.com, the official web site of Major League Baseball, selected the winners from an original list of 30 candidates (one per MLB Club).
Washington Dismisses Top CB Marcus Peters
Washington coach Chris Petersen has dismissed standout cornerback Marcus Peters from the program just two days before the Huskies face No. 18 UCLA. The school confirmed the dismissal on Thursday morning. Peters was the only upperclassman starter in Washington's young secondary, which now could have two true freshmen starting at cornerback Saturday against the Bruins.
