The British Open starts Thursday and former champion Tiger Woods says his injured elbow is doing just fine and that he is ready to contend for another major. Woods said that although he has not won a major title in five years, he has been close and that he expects to be back in the winner's circle.

Here Comes More Replay

mlbMajor League Baseball says it is moving ahead with plans to expand instant replay for umpires' calls next year. MLB Executive Vice President Joe Torre told reporters, "we're pretty confident we'll have it in place for 2014." An agreement would be needed with the unions for players and umpires.

 

2013 High School Football

football highschoolThe 2013 football season is just around the corner. Practices begin on August 21st with the first games scheduled for September 6th. According to Oly Sports, the complete schedules for River Ridge, Timberline or Tenino haven’t been released, but Oly Sports will update their website when they receive them.

Mariners Sweep Angels

marinersSHisashi Iwakuma won for the first time in over a month and the Seattle Mariners completed their first sweep of the season, beating the Los Angeles Angels 4-3. Michael Saunders hit a two-run homer and Raul Ibanez ha an RBI double as the Mariners topped Los Angeles for the third straight day.

Storm stops Dream

seatte stormTanisha Wright scored 13 of her 21 points in the second half and Camille Little added 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Seattle Storm rallied to beat the short-handed Atlanta Dream 73-65 on Sunday night. Shekinna Stricklen added 10 points for the Storm in her first start. Seattle (6-8) had lost five of six. Rookie Alex Bentley scored 16 and Erika de Souza had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Atlanta (10-3), which only had eight players available.
