Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Alabama receiver Amari Cooper and record-breaking Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon are the finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
Mariota is considered the clear the front-runner to win the 80th Heisman on Saturday night in New York. He would become the first Oregon player to earn college football's most famous player of the year trophy.
Mariota and the second-seeded Ducks will face Florida State and last year's Heisman winner Jameis Winston at the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoff semifinal on January 1st.
Cooper helped Alabama earn the top seed in the playoff. The Crimson Tide plays Ohio State in New Orleans.

Former US Goalkeeper Hahnemann Retires
Former U.S national team goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has announced his retirement from soccer after spending the majority of his career playing in England.
Hahnemann was a backup for the Seattle Sounders for the past two years. He announced his retirement through the club on Monday.
Hahnemann spent 13 seasons playing in England for Fulham, Reading, Wolverhampton and Everton. Hahnemann had nine caps for the U.S. in international play and was on the 2006 and 2010 U.S. World Cup rosters.
The 42-year-old started his pro career playing for the A-League Seattle Sounders in 1994. His first MLS stop was in Colorado in 1997 and he made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Sounders after returning in 2012. SEATTLE (AP) - December 9, 2014
Glass Named USA Volleyball Women's POY
Setter Alisha Glass is the USA Volleyball women's indoor player of the year.
The organization also announced Monday that outside hitter Kim Hill is the national team's most improved player.
Glass, who is from Leland, Michigan was named the best setter of the 2014 FIVB Women's World Championship. The top-ranked U.S. team won for the first time in the event's 62 years.
Hill, who is from Portland, Oregon started 24 matches this season, averaging 2.99 points and 1.24 digs per set. At the World Championship, she scored 20 points in the gold-medal match against China. The United States won in four sets. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – December 9, 2014
Seahawks Throttle Eagles 24-14
The Seahawks defense held a Philadelphia Eagles offense that had been averaging 416.2 yards to 139. Russell Wilson threw touchdown passes to Doug Baldwin and Marshawn Lynch and ran for a third score as part of his 263-yard passing and 48-yard rushing performance. Lynch ran “like a wild man out there,” as coach Pete Carroll put, while gaining 86 yards to put him over 1,000 for the fourth consecutive season and also scoring his first TD after a three-game drought.
Washington Knocks Off No. 13 San Diego State 49-36
Nigel Williams-Goss scored 15 points, and Washington held No. 13 San Diego State to a school record for fewest points in the Huskies' 49-36 win on Sunday.
Andrew Andrews added 13 points as Washington posted just its second win over a ranked opponent since 2011.
San Diego State shot just 20.4 percent. It was the lowest shooting percentage for the Aztecs dating to 1996 and the second time this season shooting under 25 percent in a game. San Diego State shot 24.6 percent in beating Cal State Bakersfield last month.
The 36 points were the fewest for San Diego State as a Division I program. The previous low was 38 against Utah in 1999.
