Washington, Gonzaga To Renew Series In 2016-17

After a decade-long layoff, Washington and Gonzaga will renew their basketball series beginning with the 2016-17 season. The schools announced the renewal of the matchup Monday. The date and location of the first game is yet to be determined, but the contract is a four-year deal with two games on the home court of each school in alternating years. Washington coach Lorenzo Romar says the renewal of the matchup is good for the state. The schools last played in 2006 and there had been difficulties with previous attempts to renew the matchup. The schools met every season between December 1997 and December 2006 before the rivalry went on hiatus. The schools were unable to start the contract any sooner because of non-conference commitments already made for the next two seasons. SEATTLE (AP) – August 4, 2014

Petersen Ready For 1st Fall Camp At Washington

Chris Petersen can't wait to see quarterback Cyler Miles take his first snaps in fall camp, even if Miles will be a spectator when Washington opens its season Aug. 30 at Hawaii. Petersen spoke Sunday about the start of his first fall camp at Washington after spending the previous eight seasons as the head coach at Boise State. Miles situation has drawn the most attention since Petersen's arrival. Miles was the presumptive replacement for Keith Price, who finished his career as one of the top passers in Washington history. But Miles was suspended for spring practices while police investigated his role in a Super Bowl night fight. Miles was reinstated after not being charged by prosecutors but was suspended for the season opener. SEATTLE (AP) – August 4, 2014
